Parental Controls — Home Phone

Parental controls

Their first phone. Your rules.

Give your child a way to call family and trusted contacts without giving them their own mobile number. You decide who they can call, whether their device rings, when they're available and which parts of the family phone they can access.

A better first phone

Independence without a personal cell phone.

Kids often need a way to talk to friends, reach parents, grandparents and other trusted people before they're ready for their own phone number. Home Phone gives them access to the family phone while keeping parents in charge.

1

No personal number

Children use the family's Home Phone number instead of needing their own cellular phone number.

2

Parents set the rules

Calling, contacts, voicemail and quiet hours can all be controlled for each household member.

3

Use devices you have

A compatible household tablet or device can become part of the family phone.

Contacts Only

Let them call. You choose who.

A child doesn't have to choose between having no way to call and having unrestricted access to every phone number.

Turn on Contacts Only and outbound calls are limited to people saved in your household contacts. When they're ready for more independence, you can allow calls to any number.

Start simple and give them more freedom when they're ready. Permissions are managed independently for each household member.

Quiet Hours

The family phone doesn't have to ring all night.

Set a start and end time for each member. During Quiet Hours, calls and notifications are prevented on that member's device.

Use it for bedtime, homework, school nights, or whenever you want the family phone to stay quiet.

More than calling

Give them independence without giving up control.

Calling permissions are separate from household management. A child can use the family phone while you keep control over shared contacts and voicemail.

More connection. Less complexity.

Let grandparents call the family.

Home Phone gives relatives and family friends one number to remember. If the kids are home, they can answer. If a parent is available, they can answer too.

It brings back some of the independence kids had with the old household phone, with controls that old landlines never had.

Home Phone

Their first phone doesn't have to be their own phone.

Give your family one shared number and give your kids a way to stay connected while you decide exactly what they can do.
